Greetings from the staff, board of directors, and volunteers of State College Area Meals on Wheels. Thank you for coming to our website to learn more about our meal delivery program.
We prepare and deliver meals from the kitchen of Grace Lutheran Church in State College, PA, in the geographic center of Pennsylvania -- home of Penn State University and the Nittany Lions. The vision of a few local residents in 1971 led to the creation of State College Meals on Wheels. Twenty-eight clients were served on August 16, 1971, our first delivery day. Today we typically serve 140 – 150 clients on eight separate delivery routes.
Our clients are those who are unable to prepare meals in their homes due to physical or mental health issues. They are of all ages and backgrounds. We receive no government tax dollars to support our meal program; thus, we are able to serve clients of all ages with varying health problems. Our oldest client is 98 years old and the youngest, just 14 years old. They are all God’s children and they need to be fed! That is our mission!
If you know of a person residing in the State College School District who is in need of assistance with meals, please contact us. We would enjoy the opportunity to be of service to them. We “provide the next meal… so that no senior, or homebound person, goes hungry!”©
